Avoid and Prevent Colds and Flu
How to Stay Health This Winter: Avoid and Prevent Colds and Flu
Make a resolution: a commitment to yourself to stay healthy this winter. By doing so, you send your subconscious a strong message about your intentions for the near future.
First thing every morning, have a nice cup of hot water with a little fresh lemon juice and some raw honey. This will help boost your immune system and get your body on the right track for the day.
Throughout your day, make sure you drink a lot of water .The immune system requires fluids to function. If you are dehydrated, your immune system is compromised and you stand a higher risk of getting sick.
Wash your hands! If you are in a situation where you can’t wash your hands, use an alcohol based hand sanitizer.
Get fresh air - at least a few minutes every day. Take a short walk for a few minutes. Open the windows and air out the house. Change the air filters in your heating system. You do not want dust and bacteria in the air in your home.
Try to do some form of physical exercise for about 10 minutes, at least 3 times a week. Oxygenation of the body cells is important.
Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables: Blueberries, Pomegranate juice, Tomatoes, Etc. These are high in Anti-oxidants.
A cup of plain low fat yogurt can help keep your immune system active.
Take an extra dose of Vitamin-C, especially if you are expecting a stressful day or if you just had one. Avoid tobacco and alcohol. These habits will compromise the lungs and the liver, which then reduces the body’s ability to defend itself against bacteria and viruses.
