Frequently Asked Questions
What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is an alternative and potent health system that uses the law of Like Cures Like. The application of this law was demonstrated by the German physician Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in 1796. Homeopathy was proven since, time and again in clinical and scientific experiments to be a complete, effective and safe alternative approach to health. Homeopathy is very potent and rapid in showing results. Yet, it is gentle and safe. Rather than concentrating on suppressing symptoms, Homeopathy focuses on eliminating the root cause, with lasting results.
The Homeopath, rather that looking at each symptom as a problem that needs to be addressed, uses the whole list of symptoms, to draw a health picture of the patient. Then the homeopath proceeds to find the remedy that best fits that picture. This remedy will address the root cause of the patient’s complaints and gradually relieve all symptoms. This is achieved through empowering and directing the body’s natural capability to heal itself rather than by external intervention with chemicals and physical applications that substitute and weaken the body’s ability to cure itself and sometimes complicates the problem.
What is the difference between a Homeopath and a Naturopath?
Homeopathy is a dedicated practice in which practitioners specialize entirely on the application of homeopathic medicines, using one Remedy to support all of the health issues that one may be experiencing.
Naturopathy is more of a broad practice in which practitioners are likely to prescribe multiple medicines such as supplements, herbs and nutritional and lifestyle counseling, acupuncture and even minor surgery.
How does it work?
Rather than seeing a person as a cluster of symptoms, the homeopath uses symptoms as road-signs to evaluate the person as a whole. The homeopathic remedy will stimulate the vital force, to re-align itself. As a result, a sense of well-being and health is regained.
What is a Remedy?
Remedies begin with substances from plants, minerals, animals, and other natural sources. These substances are prepared with serial dilutions until none of the original substance remains. The end result is a remedy which retains the ability to stimulate the vital force, enhancing the natural healing process of the body.
Are Remedies regulated?
Remedies are regulated by the FDA and are generally classified as OTC (Over the Counter). Remedies have been used world wide for over two hundred years, and are listed as second most popular therapy by the World Health Organization.
How long will it take to see a difference?
How long it takes depends on the person’s sensitivities, however, most people will see results quite rapidly, usually within one to four weeks.
How will I know its working?
The initial changes that you will notice are often quite subtle – increased energy, improved sleeping, and better moods.
How often will I take a Remedy?
This is different for each person, your homeopath will discuss with you how often your Remedy should be taken.
